The Why
People often ask why I started a podcast. For me, it’s simple: I love hearing people’s stories. I see it as an opportunity for people to leave a piece of their story behind.
It all began on a road trip with my daughter in May 2022. We were traveling to Florida, and I had mentioned several times that I wanted to start a podcast. I was interested in interviewing racecar drivers because I’ve loved racing since I was a child. My daughter pointed out that I didn’t really know any race car drivers, and she was right. She quickly suggested we start the podcast right then, and we did. Our first two episodes were recorded during that drive, where we interviewed each other and shared our stories.
I knew nothing about hosting a podcast, including recording, editing, or how to get it on various platforms. The early episodes are a bit rough, but the stories of my guests are still there. I’m thankful for those early guests and sometimes wish I could go back and record their stories again.
Fast forward to now, and episode number 88 has just been posted. I’ve been honored to hear the stories of my guests, with laughter and serious conversations mixed in. Along the way, I began asking my guests to leave my listeners with advice for living a better life and I have been encouraged by their words.
Every now and then, I post one of my own short episodes, typically based on the 53 questions Lauren prompted me with on the Storyworth.com platform.
I still aim to release one episode a week, and I hope to reach that goal. I’ve had the opportunity to talk with people who are racers or connected to the racing world, and there are still a few racers I’d love to interview. In the meantime, I’ll continue having conversations with anyone willing to share their stories because I firmly believe Everyone has a Story.
